Basehor Power Meet 2014 Results
Forty-five Belton Pirates were invited to attend the Bobcat Powerlifting Invitational in Kansas Saturday, Feb 8th to compete in the largest high school weight lifting meet to take place in several years in either Kansas or Missouri. Due to the weather, not having school all week and some misunderstanding only 35 actually competed on the weekend. The Pirates were in competition with about 600 of the strongest competitors from 35 different schools from across Kansas and Missouri and performed very well. The meet tested bench, squat, and hang clean and hosted separate divisions for women, men, and juniors (freshman and sophomore boys). The average weight class was 20 competitors deep and the Pirates finished the day medaling 17 of their 35 lifters with top 3 performances, scoring team points with 29 of 35 with a top 6 finish and 33 of 35 placing top 8. As a team the Pirates finished *3rd in the Men’s Division, 3rd in the Women’s Division and tied for 1st place in the FR/SO Men Division with meet host Basehor Linwood.
*We left the meet one point out of third for the men’s, but our 156# Mens competitors lift sheet was incorrect and it had him down for a 0 on hang clean. If they end up making the correction it would have placed him second and our team with a third place finish and only 8 points behind 2nd place Topeka High. Still pending.
